These books don’t ask to be read quickly. Take what’s useful. Leave the rest.

I’m Audrey Kaihatsu. I built Daily Zen Hacks books because I needed them myself. life felt chaotic. I needed something quick enough for a hard morning, honest enough for a hard week. So I wrote simply, on purpose.
Under KotsuZen, that same seven-day approach has grown into a full collection. The Essential Handbook of Daily Zen Hacks and its Spanish and French editions. With a Guided Journal for daily mindfulness practice. Additionally, for the teens in our lives, the ones carrying more than they let on, a separate series meets them right where they are.
Ultimately, every title in this book collection comes from the same place. Calm doesn’t require an overhaul. Instead, it just requires a willingness to start. Curious where it started? Then read more about the story behind KotsuZen. Meanwhile, for readers who want a preview before buying,

This is where KotsuZen began, a single idea that calm doesn’t require a retreat, a routine overhaul, or hours you don’t have. Instead, it asks for seven days and an open mind. Since then, this handbook has become the foundation for everything KotsuZen publishes, including the guided journal and international editions that followed. Take what’s useful. Leave the rest.

Daily Zen Hacks Guided Journal
By Audrey Kaihatsu
A companion journal built for real life, not a perfect one. Inside, mindfulness prompts guide you toward calm, gratitude, and emotional balance… simple enough for busy mornings, honest enough for the hard days. Meanwhile, this journal was designed to work alongside the original handbook, giving readers a place to actually practice what KotsuZen teaches, rather than just read about it. Whether you’re new to journaling or return to it often, each prompt is built for real life, not a curated version of it. Take what’s useful. Leave the rest.

Why I Wrote These Books
I didn’t write these books from a mountaintop. I wrote them from the middle of my own chaos… beautiful parts and painful ones. Some days fell apart completely. Other days, I realized, a small technique quietly held me together. And the one question kept returning… what actually helps me deal with this, right now, in the middle of my real life? Eventually, that question became The Essential Handbook of Daily Zen Hacks. And it has shaped every KotsuZen book since.
The Spanish and French editions carry the same honesty across languages. I created the Guided Journal so you’d have a place to work through your own version of what I worked through. And I wrote the teen-focused titles because I know stress doesn’t wait until adulthood to arrive. Wherever you are right now, I wrote these Daily Zen Hacks books to meet you there. No prior experience required. No version of yourself you need to become first. Take what’s useful. Leave the rest.
Kotsu Zen for Teens
Teens today are sorting through more noise than any generation before them. The KotsuZen Teen Series gives them simple, honest tools for finding calm on their own terms.
Kotsu Zen Teen Energy
I wrote Kotsu Zen Teen Energy for my grandkids, and for all the teens I see at school events and pickups. They’re all over the energy spectrum… some holding themselves rigid and measured, others open and relaxed, a few ready to push back at the day. This book meets them wherever they are, with real tools for finding calm in the chaos and room to write their way through it. I hope they find a moment in these pages where they think, “That’s me.”
And I hope they hold onto my favorite line from chapter three: You are allowed to pause and feel, “This is a lot,” without apologizing for it.
Mindfulness for teens, with room to write. Real tools for stress, focus, and mindfulness for teens… the paths to what staying true to who you are
108 Koans for Teens: Coming Soon
A koan is a question or short story used in Zen practice to quiet the busy, thinking mind and open space for insight. Classic koans, like “What is the sound of one hand clapping?” are riddles with no logical answer. For many beginners, they can feel more confusing than calming.
108 Koans for Teens offers a gentler way in.
Each koan is a clear, reflective question written for the lives teens are living today, one a reader can actually sit with and answer in their own words. Over time, that simple pause becomes a mindfulness practice all its own.
This book doesn’t hand teens answers. It hands them questions worth sitting with… questions that slowly become a way of seeing, one koan at a time.
Join a KotsuZen Workshop
Reading these books is one way to start. And meeting me in person is another.
Several times a year, I lead KotsuZen mindfulness workshops aboard Princess Cruises sailings. I bring these same Daily Zen Hacks techniques to a ship’s deck instead of a page. So if you’ve ever wondered what it looks like to practice this in real time, that’s where you’ll find it.
Also, these workshops tend to fill quickly, so message me directly to preregister. Then I’ll share which deck we’re meeting on. To book the sailing itself, reach out to my Princess Cruises booking contact instead.
I look forward to sharing and practicing this with you. Meanwhile, if a workshop isn’t in your plans right now, that’s fine too. These books exist so you don’t need a cruise, a retreat, or a special occasion to begin. You just need today. Message me directly to preregister.
If you haven’t booked your sailing yet, reach out to my Princess Cruises booking contact.
